Lesson Program
Silverthorn Farm offers lessons for all levels and ages interested in riding in the hunter/jumper discipline.
We start children as young as four years of age, with basics such as grooming, tacking, and basic riding skills. We have a great group of quiet, quality, and safe ponies and horses available for these lessons, and can match each child to an appropriate horse or pony. We also offer lessons for those adults who have always wanted to ride but have never had the opportunity as well as those looking to get back in the saddle after a long absence.
For the more advanced rider looking to show, or the college student looking to continue riding through school, we offer lessons on our horses or yours. We also have several horses available for lease or half-lease at our farm. Trailor-ins are welcome, as well, for those boarding their horses at home who would still like to take lessons at our farm.
All our students are taught basic horsemanship skills in addition to their riding skills. We believe it is important to understand horses' behavior, care, and everyday lives outside the riding arena to fully be able to cooperate and advance within the saddle.
